OPTIMAL BIOMARKER RANGES
Personal biomarker ranges
We are all unique. For example, what may be considered an optimal cholesterol level for one person may not be the same for you. Therefore, we go beyond regular testing and calculate personalised optimal ranges of the essential biomarkers to give you a precise reference point for measuring your health and progress.

MICROBIOME
You contain multitudes
Learn what lives in your gut! A healthy and diverse group of microorganisms in your gut is essential for optimal digestion and immune system. Our home stool test kit comes with an easy step-by-step guide, and with it, you can discover which of the 300+ known species are part of your gut microbiome and how they affect your body and health.
EPIGENOME
Your cellular age
Experience the power of a comprehensive analysis without the hassle of additional tests! From the same saliva sample, we can analyse 850k epigenetic methylation sites and your telomere length – a true reflection of your unique ageing process.
The epigenome is the gene-regulating methylation that shapes your body’s functionality. Unlike the genome, the epigenome can change during your lifetime and reveal your precise biological age.

AGE CLOCK
Your NU age
- Blood age calculation: Each one of your biomarkers tells a part of your ageing story. Combing this information, we get a good idea of your body’s real age.
- Microbiome age calculation: The diversity of your microbiome and the abundance of certain bacterial species are good indicators of your real age, as diversity tends to decrease over time.
- Epigenetic age calculation: Your epigenetic age is based on chemical (methylation) markers on our DNA. The accumulation of epigenetic changes is a good predictor of your biological age.

AGE CLOCK
Your NU age
Our actionable approach to age clock calculations determines your biological from your existing blood test. You will be able to see which biomarkers drive ageing and take targeted action.

BIOLOGICAL SUMMARIES
360° understanding
These summaries describe the state of critical biological processes in your body, such as liver function, inflammation or cardiovascular health. To make them easily understandable and actionable, we group summaries into 3 categories: strength, focus and neutral, to act as your guide and empower you to make informed decisions about your health.

FAQs
Your genome and epigenome is tested via a sample of saliva. The saliva is collected by spitting into the tube, as per the instructions provided.
For microbiome testing, a stool sample is required. In your test kit you will get a tube for collecting and preserving your stool sample. Follow the instructions provided in the kit to collect a small sample of your stool and place it in the provided container. We will analyze the sample to identify and characterize the microbial organisms present in your gut, providing insights.
In order to test your biomarkers, a blood sample is needed. This involves a healthcare professional drawing a small amount of blood from your vein using a needle and syringe. The blood sample is then sent to a laboratory, where it is analyzed for specific biomarkers. These biomarkers provide information about your health status, organ function, and potential risk factors for certain diseases.
We have established partnerships with various labs across the regions where we offer blood sampling, as the blood testing process varies by country. In The Netherlands we have a network of nurses who can visit your preferred location, such as your home or office, to collect the blood samples. In Slovenia and the United Kingdom, you will receive a referral letter from us with instructions to visit our preferred partner laboratory to have your blood test done.
We do not test for food allergies or sensitivities in our testing process. However, it is important for you to mention any known allergies or sensitivities you have in your onboarding questionnaire.
We ask you to fill in a comprehensive questionnaire to gather detailed information about your medical history, including any pre-existing conditions and current medications. This helps us provide precise, individualized results and recommendations based on your unique biology.
As soon as all of your test results have been analysed and uploaded, you will receive an email notification informing you that your results are available for viewing on your personal dashboard.
In the app and dashboard you can find your results, age clocks and health insights alongside the information you need to interpret them. If you have specific questions you can always contact us at support@thenu.com or book a consultation with one of our experts.
We understand the importance of collaborating with healthcare professionals to ensure the best possible approach to your health. You have the option to download the raw data of your results from our dashboard to share the information with your doctor for further analysis and discussion.
Our recommendations are generated by state-of-the-art scientific algorithms built by our team of experts, that span multiple areas of knowledge (biochemistry, genetics, nutrition, medicine, microbiology and exercise science).
Absolutely. Your personalised recommendations are manageable and actionable based on your current biology.
